Welcome to grumpy sunshine

Hi there,👋

I’m a teen girl, I am from the west coast. I feel most like myself when I’m outside—especially near the water, soaking up sunshine and fresh air. I love reading, making playlists, drawing, going on walks, and figuring out life one mood swing at a time.

What is Grumpy Sunshine? ☀️🌧

Grumpy Sunshine is a blog I made for teen girls (and honestly, anyone!) who want honest book reviews, relatable ADHD content, and fun playlists.
I started it because I was always looking for YA romance books that weren’t too adult, and it was way harder than it should’ve been. After months of searching, I built a list of amazing books that are actually teen-friendly, and I wanted to share them.

The name “Grumpy Sunshine” kind of sums up my vibe: a little chaotic, sometimes grumpy, but full of heart and sunshine too. This blog is my way of being real with the world.

What You’ll Find Here 📚🎧✨

  • Honest book reviews (written by a teen, for teens)
  • Playlists that match your mood (made with love and ADHD hyperfocus)
  • ADHD tips from my own experience

Everything I post is 100% me—fun, honest, helpful, and maybe a little chaotic.

My ADHD Story 🧠💬

I was diagnosed with ADHD in May 2025, and it changed everything. Suddenly, my habits and quirks made sense. Since starting medication, I’ve noticed huge differences in my focus, motivation, and emotions. I’m still learning every day—about myself, how to manage life, and how to give myself a break when I need it.

I used to feel weird about ADHD, like it made me different in a bad way. But now, I see it as something that shapes who I am. I hope this blog helps other teens with ADHD feel seen, understood, and curious—not alone.

A Little Extra (Because Why Not?)

I was always a super active kid. I did competitive dance for years (8–10 hours a week!), I’ve always loved swimming, and now I enjoy volleyball. I need structure and routines, but also time to create, explore, and chill. School hasn’t always been easy—especially when I lost my outlet for energy—but I’ve learned to build schedules that work for me. ADHD doesn’t stop me—it just makes me figure things out in my own way.

So whether you’re here for book recs, chill vibes, ADHD tips, or just something new—I’m happy you’re here 💛
Let’s be grumpy, let’s be sunshiney, and let’s figure it out together.
